To Kill a Mockingbird Scrapbook Project
Everyone will be creating a scrapbook to demonstrate your understanding of this project
Things you need to include:
To Kill a Mockingbird Scrapbook
You need to pick one of the main characters Scout, Jem, or Atticus and keep a scrapbook from their viewpoint as you read this book. You need to use your imagination and your knowledge of the novel to make sure that all items seem “real”.
1. Obituaries (for all people that die during the book)
2. At least Ten Journal entries for all events occurring based on your characters viewpoint. These entries need to be at least half a page or more, include details from the book (don’t forget page numbers) and what that meant to your character. (For example, if you choose Scout (Jean Louise) you would need to write about your first day of school. Make sure that you write as if you are Scout and how you felt.
3. Newspaper articles covering the trial
4. At least one editorial on the trial (more may be done for extra credit)
5. Pick at least two quotes from your character that seems to have a message for today. Why did you choose that quote and how does it relate to your life today.
6. A cover page ( be creative with this, make sure that it reflects the story and your character)
7. A table of contents page.
8. Include at least five “courtroom drawings” of the Tom Robinson trial, label them from your characters point of view.
9. Include a map of Maycomb in your scrapbook, locate at least 10 important locations from the book (need to include; Finch house, school, the neighbors, and other places mentioned)
10. At least one other newspaper article detailing a historical event from the 1930’s.
11. A letter from Dill explaining why he can’t come that final summer. Make sure that it is written to your chosen character and discusses things relevant to your character.
12. Pictures that represent the different situations in the story. You may hand draw these, cut them out of a magazine, use pictures you find on the internet, clip art, etc.
13. All pictures need to be captioned
14. Include all other work done in class for this unit.
* All newspaper articles need to look like a newspaper article would.
Approximate Due Date: February 19, 2015
Notice this date could change based on early outs, late starts and snow days.
